For those not familiar with Free Comic Book Day, it’s essentially a community event where fans can show up at participating stores and, as the name implies, grab a comic for free. Unfortunately, these can be a little tricky to obtain if you don’t live near a local comic shop.
Either way, Udon Entertainment, in collaboration with Capcom, is preparing Street Fighter vs Rival Schools for the event.
“The World Warriors hit the books, as the heroes of Street Fighter collide with the quarrelsome students of Rival Schools,” the official blurb reads.
“Chun-Li, Dan, and Sakura square off against Batsu, Edge, Kyoko, and more in a schoolyard brawl that may give them all detention!”

Interestingly, this isn’t the only new Rival Schools book out this week.
A new hardback, currently scheduled to release on 30th April, will focus on the unforgettable artwork from all three Rival Schools titles, including sketches, unused concepts, and more.
It all leads us to believe there may be a future for the franchise after all, despite director Hideaki Itsuno’s departure from Capcom in 2024.
What do you make of all this? Do you think it’s worth reading into the Japanese publisher’s sudden recognition of Rival Schools? Let us know in the comments section below.
