Rust on PS4 Is Shutting Down, But Players Can Upgrade to PS5 Version for Free
Rust Console Edition, the appropriately named console edition of Rust, is going through something of a transitional phase this year, in which the PS4 rendition is being sunset in favour of a spangly new PS5 version.
Pedro Silva, senior community manager at developer Double Eleven, recently posted about what’s happening with the game on social media:
To summarise, the last-gen console version of Rust will be removed from sale on 29th May 2025, and will be entirely shut down in October.
Meanwhile, the new PS5 version of the game will launch this summer (no date yet). Once it’s available, players can move over from the old version to the new one at no extra cost — but they’ll need to do so before the PS4 version gets wiped in October.

You can get a very brief glimpse at the new console version of Rust in the above teaser.
