Nine Sols, a highly acclaimed 2D action title released last year, has been doing very well for Taiwanese developer Red Candle Games.

On the first anniversary of the game’s initial PC release, the studio has announced it has sold over 800,000 units across all platforms. It’s well on the way to crossing the 1 million milestone.

Red Candle made the announcement via Steam and its socials:

Nine Sols is a side-scrolling Metroidvania with tough combat with a bent towards parrying, self-described as “Sekiro-lite”.

Critical reception was very strong with both its PC and console launches, including a 9/10 from us; we described it as the “best Metroidvania out there right now”, praising its intense combat, engaging story, and beautiful presentation.
