Death Stranding 2 Premiere Event Showcases the Game One More Time Before PS5 Launch

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has had a lot of publicity in the last few weeks or so, but it’s not enough for Hideo Kojima.

With the game due out in less than a month, Kojima Productions has announced a special “live game premiere” event, taking place on 8th June during the Summer Game Fest period.

Hosted by Geoff Keighley, the event will “celebrate the game’s upcoming launch with a panel discussion with special guests and an exclusive live demonstration of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach”, according to the official post.

It sounds as though there will be new gameplay shown off, and presumably those special guests may be people making a cameo appearance in the sequel.

Those able to make it to the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles can grab tickets and watch it in-person, but it will also be livestreamed via YouTube.

Again, it takes place on 8th June 2025, beginning at 7pm PDT / 10pm EDT / 3am BST (morning of 9th June).

Recent hands-on impressions have been very positive, and it’s set to tour the world to market the launch. This event just seems like another beat in what seems to be an expansive promotional push.

@Oram77 no need to be sarcastic that what they said about god of war ragnarok with all the trailers it was just a small portion of the game..

@Oram77 They are allowing you to avoid the news if you want to go in blind, it’s not like “surprise, here’s a 10 minute trailer at SGF or the next SoP”. Reminds me of how Nintendo promoted Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in 2022.

@arsmolinarc or maybe just maybe a live event for one of Sony’s two known major AAA releases this year is news that a PlayStation news site will cover, groundbreaking stuff I know!

I’ve played about 30 hours of the directors cut. I liked it enough but the combat and bare minimum stealth really detracted from the game play. I get the loop and I get why people love it. That said I’m absolutely planning on getting 2 based on what I’m hearing about the expanded combat and stealth mechanics. I probably won’t play at launch but I’ll definitely pick it up in the next few months.
