Sony has confirmed that a new PS5 firmware update will go live starting today that’s designed to improve the console’s messaging system and usability “on some screens”. Like previous system patches, it’ll be delivered in a phased launch, so you might not get the option to download it straight away.

The single patch note for PS5 firmware update 25.04-11.40.00 is as follows:

• We’ve improved the messages and usability on some screens.

With only a mention of enhancements for the PS5 machine’s messaging system, this appears to be an incredibly minor firmware update — there’s not even a mention of the classic stability upgrades! Therefore, you’re probably not missing out on much if the patch takes a day or two to land on your console.
