Despite Babylon’s Fall Failure, More Online Games Could Be Coming from PlatinumGames

The monumental flop that was Babylon’s Fall doesn’t appear to have deterred PlatinumGames from making more online games, as newly spotted job listings suggest the developer is still experimenting with the crowded space.
Tech4Gamers has uncovered a job listing for a Game Designer at PlatinumGames, which is searching for someone with skills in making online games. Under the “Desired Skills” heading, the studio wishes to recruit someone with “experience working on online action game development” and “experience in level design for online or open field games”.
While the job advertisement isn’t outright confirmation the Japanese studio is making an online title, it does suggest the team is at least considering multiplayer elements for one of its future projects.
A couple of months before Babylon’s Fall was shut down, PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba said the developer would continue to try making games in the live-service space. “There’s a lot that we learned from this experience, and it’s not changed our future plans or outlook moving forward regarding doing live service games at all.”
Since those comments were made, top talent, including Hideki Kamiya, has left the company.
PlatinumGames currently has Ninja Gaiden 4 in the works, though this job listing is unlikely to be related to the project. Would you try another live-service effort from PlatinumGames after Babylon’s Fall? Let us know in the comments below.
