A script-measuring conflict is currently raging between two European RPG superpowers, and we weren’t expecting an update to our earlier, essential reporting; Warhorse Studios, the Czech team behind the imminent Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, has thrown down the gauntlet, announcing the game’s script is, in fact, half a million words longer than initially suggested. It’s looking like the Belgium-based Larian Studios’ incredible Baldur’s Gate 3 is about to lose its crown (and Guinness World Record).

On X, Warhorse fanned the flames (thanks, GamesRadar+), noting that KC: DII’s script is actually over 2.2 million words long, requiring protagonist Henry of Skallitz actor Tom McKay to spend more than 500 hours recording VO. Larian Studios’ publishing director, Michael Douse, welcomed the competition, writing: “I hope they do [beat the Guinness record]! Cannot wait for KC: DII.”
