God of War's Rumoured Metroidvania Pushed into 2026 on PS5 1

It’s somewhat of an open secret at this stage that God of War is going back to Greece in a 2.5D-style Metroidvania game, perhaps similar in style and scope to last year’s critically acclaimed Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

But the summer of not-E3 announcements has come and gone without mention of the release, leading many to ponder whether it really exists at all.

According to well-connected Giant Bomb co-owner Jeff Grubb, the title’s still very much still on the way, but has been internally delayed into 2026 at this point.

It tallies with various other rumours that have been swirling around this unannounced project, which suggest the scale of the title has increased. One supposed source claimed that the outing had been postponed in order to add full voice acting, as the release previously relied on text boxes.

Assuming this is all true, then you can expect the final adventure to be of a pretty high quality – as you’d perhaps expect from the God of War franchise.
