Rockstar Games broke the internet this month when it revealed it would delay the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 until 2026. For some fans it’s been tough news to swallow, but Rockstar at least made up for this with a new trailer. So, will it make its new launch window?

Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, who has a respectable track record when it comes to industry stories and scoops, has recently chimed in suggesting it could still “slip” (again) – with another delay potentially going beyond May 2026.

He adds to this in his latest report how people working on games slated for this same window are already “praying” Rockstar doesn’t “slip again”. Some other sources he’s spoken to think another delay could give other developers an “excuse to delay” their own projects to 2027.

“It’s a massive game of 4D chess playing out across the entire video game industry, as business analysts at every major company try to discern whether Rockstar will actually finish the game in time for a May 2026 release date so they can plan accordingly,” according to Schreier.

Fortunately, most respondents don’t seem to be “too bothered” by the latest news and are happy to play it whenever it arrives.
