Earlier this month it was reported the Federal Trade Commission was still fighting Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard buyout and it wasn’t going so well. Now, in perhaps the last significant development, the FTC has officially dropped its case against the tech giant.

“The Commission has determined that the public interest is best served by dismissing the administrative litigation in this case. It is hereby ordered that the complaint in this matter be, and it hereby is, dismissed.”

Microsoft president Brad Smith followed up this news with a statement – calling the decision a “victory for players across the country” and for “common sense”.

As previously mentioned, the 9th Circuit Court recently decided to uphold its decision, saying the lower judge “had applied the correct legal standards” and the FTC did not have sufficient evidence that Microsoft’s acquisition would damage the competition.

So, that’s that! It follows the news earlier this week Microsoft and Ninja Theory will be bringing Hellblade 2 to the PS5 this summer.
