Niche Fighter Fatal Fury’s Marketing Is Wiping the Floor with the Genre’s Biggest Names

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is a new release in SNK’s decades-old fighting franchise. It’s the epitome of niche – but its marketing is anything but!
While the actual game looks a little dated compared to genre titans like Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1, its advertising is on another level.
Not content with adding soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to its roster, it’s also signed up two massive names in the streaming game, KSI and IShowSpeed, who will anchor when it sponsors a couple of real-life heavyweight boxing clashes in London and New York.
Not only that, but it’s also decked out buses in the English capital, and we’re fairly convinced this isn’t the end of its efforts, as there’s still over a week until release.
Of course, SNK has access to Saudi Arabia’s unfathomably large Private Investment Fund, so money isn’t really an obstacle here.
It’s still a little surprising to see the series marketed more strongly than many of the biggest names in genre, though – we wonder if it’s all going to pay off or not.
