Look, we don’t want to colour your opinion right off the bat, but we’ve seen more than a few people calling this PS Plus Extra and Premium update one of the worst yet.

More specifically, subscribers really don’t seem to be pleased with Premium’s offering of just one PS2 port in Battle Engine Aquila — a game that most paying customers won’t have even heard of.

But let’s just take a deep breath and rewind a little. May 2025’s offering across the two subscription tiers includes a total of ten titles, and despite the general negativity, we do think there are a few worthwhile games up for grabs here.

Sand Land, for example, is a fun and charming open world adventure brought together via a lovely Akira Toriyama art style.

Meanwhile, Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising is a super solid 2D fighting game, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy provides some classic post-apocalyptic vibes. Heck, Soul Hackers 2 didn’t review too well, but it could be worth a look if you’re partial to turn-based RPGs.
