PS5 Action RPG The First Berserker: Khazan Didn’t Meet Sales Expectations, But Nexon’s Oddly Unbothered

The First Berserker: Khazan hasn’t met publisher Nexon’s sales expectations — but that’s not necessarily an issue, according to the company’s latest financial report.
The action RPG launched for PS5 in March, and was met with solid reviews. It went on to find an audience amongst fans of Souls-esque outings, but it didn’t seem to set any sales charts alight.
Indeed, Nexon states that its Q1 revenue fell below its outlook when referencing Khazan’s commercial performance, but it continues: “The game achieved our objective as a strategic first step in a multi-year plan to introduce Dungeon & Fighter IP to a global audience.”
So, as far as the publisher’s concerned, Khazan has managed to pave the way for more Dungeon & Fighter (often referred to as DNF) — especially here in the west. The property’s been a big deal in Asia since 2005, but it’s never quite had the backing for an overseas assault.
Now, the plan is to push “two new titles” off the back of Khazan. Nexon namedrops “Project
OVERKILL” (a mobile action RPG) and “Dungeon&Fighter: ARAD” (a Genshin Impact-style gacha game that was shown at The Game Awards last year).
