Raidou Remastered Highlights Some Huge Improvements Over the Original PS2 RPG
When Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army was first announced, we must admit that we were a little wary. The lacking Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster had set a rather low bar for Atlus’ remastering efforts, after all.
However, this revival of the PS2 action RPG is actually starting to look like a significant upgrade over the original release. The above trailer may only be a meagre 33 seconds long, but every improvement it showcases is a big step forward.
In truth, this is bordering on remake territory, rather than being a simple remaster. Visually, the game’s been totally overhauled with new assets — even the environments are now made up of 3D models, instead of prerendered backdrops.

Atlus has also released a quick overview of the aforementioned action combat — another part of the game that’s been heavily reworked, with quick access to skills and fully 3D arenas.
