MindsEye is out today on PS5, but we unfortunately don’t have a review for you to read.

And that’s a shame for all of us, because we’ve been dying to actually see what MindsEye is all about. This is a game that’s raised eyebrows ever since it was announced — a title that’s looked odd basically every time we’ve been handed footage.

Indeed, the marketing for this one has been incredibly weird, with trailers and press releases tiptoeing around what the game is trying to do. Is it open world, or is it a linear, story-driven campaign? Is it both? What’s with the strange live service model that seems to surround the release?

At this point, our only way of answering these questions is to get our hands on the game — but we’re in the same boat as everyone else for this particular title. As far as we can tell, review codes for MindsEye haven’t been sent to gaming publications like Push Square.

It’s worth mentioning that MindsEye was previewed by a select few YouTube channels several weeks ago — and the feedback was rather negative. This led to the CEO of Build a Rocket Boy, the title’s developer, claiming that people were being paid to “trash the game”.
