Stellar Blade Immediately Breaks Sony’s Peak Single Player Record on PC

Stellar Blade PC Peak Players

Stellar Blade has released on PC, and it’s instantly set a new record for Sony.

The hit action title racked up an impressive 99,980 concurrent players on Steam at launch, which is more than any previous Sony-published, single player game has managed.

Of course, the single player caveat is necessary here since Helldivers 2 was such a colossal success last year, racking up an insane 458,709 players at one point around release.

Still, this means that Stellar Blade has managed to top the peak numbers of Ghost of Tsushima (77,154), God of War 2018 (73,529), Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (66,436), Horizon Zero Dawn (56,557), Horizon Forbidden West (40,462), The Last of Us Part 1 (36,496), and God of War Ragnarok (35,615). Not bad, given the overall popularity of these properties.

Sony’s PC push has come under some scrutiny lately. While enthusiasm for PlayStation’s initial batch of ports was evident (for the most part), interest has tailed off over time — as highlighted by the above figures.

Sequels like Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok couldn’t match their predecessors, and the situation hasn’t been helped by the fact that some of the ports have launched with notable technical issues.
