Twisted Metal Shapes Up for Another Season of Sublimely Stupid Television

The first season of Twisted Metal was an unexpectedly excellent adaptation of one of PlayStation’s oldest franchises. And the second season looks to be amping up the insanity.
For those of you who watched the show, you’ll know that it ended on a cliff-hanger, with Anthony Mackie’s John Doe roped into the titular Twisted Metal tournament, which is of course based on the games.
And in this trailer we see Calypso kickstarting the destruction derby-style event, alongside a few familiar faces.
For example, franchise favourite Axel – the guy who basically has two giant wheels attached to his arms – puts in an appearance, as well as Vermin, True Raven, and newcomer Mayhem.
Here’s how Peacock summarises the show:
“Following the revelations in the season one finale, John and Quiet find themselves entering the deadly Twisted Metal tournament, a sinister demolition derby hosted by a mysterious man known as Calypso. As they try to survive an onslaught of dangerous new foes and familiar faces alike, including the murderous clown Sweet Tooth, things get complicated for John when he reunites with his long-lost sister, the vigilante Dollface.”
The series is set to start streaming on Peacock from 31st July. For those of you in the UK, the first season eventually aired on Paramount+, although there’s been no word on whether it’ll also be airing this follow-up. We’ll keep you posted.
