But after <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/tech\/elon-musk-might-bring-back-vine-predecessor-tiktok-shut-twitter-rcna54942\" style=\"color:blue\">many teases<\/a>, Elon Musk has today again claimed that <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1948358524935004201\" style=\"color:blue\">X is going to bring back Vine<\/a>, though this time \u201c<span><span><span><span><span>in AI form<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Does that mean that we\u2019ll get a separate Vine app once again, or will it be a Vine-style feed within X? <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>And does the AI element relate to an algorithm, or a feed of AI-generated content?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>First off, I highly doubt that X is ever going to launch a separate Vine app. It\u2019s just too much engineering effort, and I don\u2019t see X Corp shelling out to build another platform, or re-launch an old one, in its current state.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Maybe, if there was clear advertiser demand, and a path to monetization, it could bring back a separate Vine, but I suspect that given his \u201ceverything app\u201d focus, Elon\u2019s actually talking about bringing back a version of what Vine was, in terms of a feed of short-form videos, within X itself.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>On the second point, my guess would be that Elon\u2019s referring to a feed of AI-generated content, not an AI-moderated video feed.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Why is that? Because earlier in the week, Elon also said that the xAI team is working on a new text-to-video process, which he claimed would be called \u201cImagine.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Musk said that xAI is developing a new AI process that will enable users to \u201cmake creative viral videos fast.\u201d Which sounds like it would align with this latest Vine comment, with a new feed of AI-generated video clips in their own Vine-style feed.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Which is not bringing back Vine at all, but I can see how the dots connect from one perspective. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>X\u2019s text-to-video project is being powered by <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/hotshot.co\/\" style=\"color:blue\"><span><span><span><span>Hotshot<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>, an AI video project that X <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span>acquired back in March<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Before being acquired by xAI, Hotshot had developed<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>\u00a0a range of text-to-video and text-to-GIF AI models, and had gained early traction among AI enthusiasts.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Hotshot Ai | The Most Realistic Ai videos I&#039;ve Seen Yet | Try Now For Free\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dmu-S7QmGpY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>The logical next step for the technology within X is to enable text-to-video generation in-stream, which would then give X similar capacity to Google\u2019s Veo model, which has already sparked a range of viral trends.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>That, I\u2019m guessing, is what Elon\u2019s thinking, that X\u2019s new text-to-video offering will immediately prove so popular that X will then be able to populate an all-new Vine-style feed, purely with generative AI clips. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>But would that work? Do people really want a feed of random AI-generated video clips?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Well, as noted, Google\u2019s Veo video generation engine has already sparked several content trends, and if X\u2019s offering is similar, I could see the same happening, at least to some degree.
