Such actions, despite carrying significant risk, have turned out fine (in relative terms), and it\u2019s this gung-ho, action-first approach that many attribute to Elon\u2019s ongoing business success.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>Which is what came to mind when I saw today\u2019s announcement that <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/xai\/status\/1948424094883471702\" style=\"color:blue\">X is partnering with Kalshi<\/a> to provide Grok insights within Kalshi\u2019s market prediction overviews.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Kalshi X\" data-imagemodel=\"183284\" src=\"https:\/\/imgproxy.divecdn.com\/6ZcCvDrMVCH-eaKuPWYOOzIIjo5_iVb3fvpSRRK8tQA\/g:ce\/rs:fit:1600:0\/Z3M6Ly9kaXZlc2l0ZS1zdG9yYWdlL2RpdmVpbWFnZS9rYWxzaGlfeF8yLnBuZw==.webp\"\/><\/div>\n<p><span><span><span>As you can see in this example, market analytics platform Kalshi will now be able to display contextual insights from Grok within its stock overviews, providing more data for investors to incorporate into their buying and selling approach.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>Which makes sense, in helping investors make more sense of what\u2019s happening. But then again, there is a line that needs to be drawn between adding insight, and influencing investment decisions, based on what an AI bot says. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>Because that seems pretty risky. If an investor loses out because Grok told them not to buy in, that would be considered direct financial advice, and the FTC has some pretty strict rules around that element. Because it\u2019s so risky, because it can have a major impact, yet X is stepping into this with seemingly little regard for potential fallout in this respect.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>X also announced a similar deal with Polymarket last month, with Polymarket now able to <span><span><span><span><span>incorporate <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/xai\/status\/1932481207180406923\" style=\"box-sizing:inherit; color:blue; cursor:pointer; font-variant-ligatures:normal; text-align:start\"><span><span><span><span>predictions based on X posts<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>, along with insights from xAI\u2019s Grok system, to provide contextual pointers for its forecasts.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"X Polymarket\" data-imagemodel=\"180568\" src=\"https:\/\/imgproxy.divecdn.com\/suTRKwJ8isVaAjG1WxO5H_HFuUTcGS9zReJEuGrHRuY\/g:ce\/rs:fit:1600:0\/Z3M6Ly9kaXZlc2l0ZS1zdG9yYWdlL2RpdmVpbWFnZS94X3BvbHltYXJrZXQucG5n.webp\"\/><\/div>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>And both of these activations present the same level of risk in providing financial advice, or financial-type advice, via AI means.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>It seems like a potential lawsuit waiting to happen, particularly when you also consider Elon Musk\u2019s own business ties, and how these advice notes could link back to them.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Indeed, the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/business-guidance\/resources\/disclosures-101-social-media-influencers\" style=\"color:blue\">FTC advises<\/a> that:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><em><span><span><span><span><span>\u201c<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span><span><span><span><span>If you endorse a product through social media, your endorsement message should make it obvious when you have a relationship (\u2018material connection\u2019) with the brand. A \u2018material connection\u2019 to the brand includes a personal, family, or employment relationship or a financial relationship \u2013 such as the brand paying you or giving you free or discounted products or services.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>That\u2019s more specifically related to influencer endorsement, but the same rules would apply to AI tools as well. And with Elon having a hand in various stock impacting elements, and with xAI looking to angle Grok to better align with his personal views, it seems like only a matter of time before both of these partnerships lead to at least some issues on this front. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>But again, Elon is fine with higher levels of risk than most.
