href=\"https:\/\/www.bungie.net\/7\/en\/News\/Article\/passing_the_torch\">Bungie boss Pete Parsons is out<\/a> as the embattled developer continues to go through a significant shake-up.<\/p>\n<p>Sony recently said that it\u2019ll be taking more control of the Marathon maker and will be integrating the studio under its PS Studios umbrella.<\/p>\n<p>After its acquisition, Bungie was granted autonomy separate from PlayStation\u2019s other first-party studios, but flagging Destiny sales and the delay of Marathon has seen Sony step in to try and fix the mess it\u2019s invested over $3 billion into.<\/p>\n<p>Parsons took the CEO role in 2016 and has presided over Bungie\u2019s most tumultuous period, to put it politely. I am deeply proud of the worlds we\u2019ve built together and the millions of players who call them home \u2013 and most of all I am privileged by the opportunity to work alongside the incredible minds at Bungie.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Justin Truman, the former Chief Development Officer, will take on the role of the new CEO at Bungie \u2013 and he\u2019s got a tough job ahead of him, following Marathon\u2019s recent delay and art plagiarism scandal.<\/p>\n<p>In an introductory message, he wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWhen we\u2019re at our best \u2013 we create those worlds alongside you, our player community, and build something that matters. I\u2019ve also been part of these efforts at Bungie when we\u2019ve maybe not been at our best. When we\u2019ve stumbled and realised through listening to our community that we had missed the mark. to be bought that they wanted full autonomy. It was rumoured that Microsoft wanted to buy them back around the same time but were put off by Bungie&#8217;s terms as they would have wanted full control.<br \/>Sony meanwhile had just missed out Leyou Technologies to Tencent and were looking for a studio with Live service experience, at that point there weren&#8217;t too many options, either they were already owned by major publishers or had gotten so big that it wasn&#8217;t worth the investment. So Sony bought Bungie while meeting their terms.
