href=\"https:\/\/www.purexbox.com\"><strong>Xbox Game Pass<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 had flopped on the Microsoft machine, so all eyes have been on Helldivers 2 to see whether it would resonate on the green machine.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from MLB The Show, which is not technically published by PlayStation on competing consoles, this represents the first Sony game to be released on a rival format. It\u2019s launching over a year after its enormously successful PS5 and PC release, but has been buoyed by the addition of new content recently, including a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.purexbox.com\/games\/xbox-360\/halo_3_odst\" class=\"external\">Halo ODST<\/a> crossover.<\/p>\n<div class=\"insert-label centered insert lazyload for-mobile insert-extended lazyload\">\n<div id=\"PS_MPU_X_L68B53B2EE11E1\" style=\"min-width:300px; min-height:250px\" data-dfp-id=\"pushsquare\/mobile_web_display\/article\" data-dfp-sizes=\"300x250,300x600\" data-dfp-targeting=\"pos=1,gto=false,experiment=nl-article-mobile-1\" class=\"lazyload\" data-dfp-refresh-direct=\"true\" data-prebid-config=\"Lazy_Load_HP_MPU\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>And according to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/alineaanalytics\/status\/1961422671381504312\">Alinea Analytics<\/a>, the game has already sold over 600k units on Xbox Series X|S, which is a surprisingly respectable number. The firm tracks the PC version at over 12 million copies and the PS5 version at over five million copies.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"object object-tweet\"><!-- cache: oembed\/https:\/\/twitter.com\/alineaanalytics\/status\/1961422671381504312 @ 2025-08-31T13:08:30+01:00 --><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" align=\"center\"><p><span lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It was a historic moment this week when Helldivers 2 became the first Sony-published game to release on an Xbox platform. <\/p>\n<p>The day after release, Arrowhead\u2019s CEO reported 500,690 concurrent players across all platforms. At the time, Steam\u2019s CCU was around 160k, suggesting\u2026 <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/1Wz2qfSSQT\">pic.twitter.com\/1Wz2qfSSQT<\/a><\/span>\u2014 Alinea Analytics (@alineaanalytics) <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/alineaanalytics\/status\/1961422671381504312?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 29, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/aside>\n<p>The game\u2019s shot back up the charts on all platforms recently thanks to its addition of new content, which is an example of the live service model in action.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, we\u2019re still not 100% certain of Alinea Analytics\u2019 methodology. It <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/alineaanalytics.com\/\">promises<\/a> \u201cmarket-leading precision\u201d, but it\u2019s always worth mentioning that these numbers <em>are<\/em> still estimates, and therefore shouldn\u2019t be taken as fact.<\/p>\n<p>In the US, however, we can see Helldivers 2 is <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/redirect.viglink.com?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.microsoft.com%2Fen-us%2Fstore%2Fmost-popular%2Fgames%2Fxbox&amp;key=ae68f205e9e6fcdefa7db1ab4f93a912\" rel=\"sponsored noopener\" class=\"external afflink\">currently the 15th most played Xbox game<\/a>, behind mostly free-to-play offerings like Fortnite and Roblox, so that\u2019s a respectable result for the game considering it\u2019s not included in Xbox Game Pass.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019ll be interesting to see <em>how<\/em> this influences Sony\u2019s strategy. The way Xbox has collapsed over the last two gens means there&#8217;s no way back for them now, especially after going multiplatform. Sony can now relax as their position is safe, there&#8217;s no threat from the competition and so they now see Xbox as a means for quick revenue like they do with PC. I don&#8217;t think any of Xbox&#8217;s IPs have been that exciting at all. But I&#8217;m not the target audience, neither with PS5, I&#8217;m not interested in the direction their games have gone for the past few years. But if people find them appealing or are desperate then by all means, go for it.<\/p>\n<p>I still use a PS4\/Switch\/Xbox One but use my Xbox One the least anyway. It&#8217;s not a digital library thing, the controllers are fine, the libraries are &#8216;fine&#8217;, the OS is eh on Xbox One\/Series and Switch is eh but PS4&#8217;s is great still. The games are just boring and 1st party are fair on Xbox One, but Series or PS5, eh 3rd parties or 1st party are just boring. What Hi-Fi Rush\/South of Midnight are the best they have, Forza Motorsport 8 or 2023 is trash and the rest aren&#8217;t my thing. PS5 Sony killed all my favourite IPs, or studios, so I have nothing left. Darksiders 4 is hit and miss in messaging what it is, any other 3rd parties I like flopped. 9th gen has sucked. I have plenty of PS4 physical yet have a lot more Switch digital then PS4 yet had my PS4 digital longer then that. Vita a fair amount of digital. No Xbox digital at all but a fair amount physical of it. I went physical a lot and still do. Especially as back compat\/old consoles around and modern game design has changed so I am more picky so I still have more physical games for old systems I pick up with preferred game design.<\/p>\n<p>Now back on topic again.<\/p>\n<p>Business is business and if they offer them (when they are) why not experience them.<\/p>\n<p>But it&#8217;s good to see.
