It now costs $550 for a base unit with a disc drive, but hey, it could be worse \u2014 what if it was <em>$650<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s apparently the new price of an Xbox Series X|S, according to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.windowscentral.com\/gaming\/xbox\/tariffs-bite-xbox-fans-even-harder-as-microsoft-once-again-increases-xbox-series-x-s-prices\">Windows Central<\/a>, which has shared cost increases across the full range of Xbox Series X|S systems. These price increases reportedly go into effect from 3rd October.<\/p>\n<p>The PS5 Pro won&#8217;t even be the most expensive console on the market anymore, as the absurd 2TB Galaxy Black version of the Xbox Series X will be <em>$799.99<\/em>. That&#8217;s $50 more expensive than a PS5 Pro, and will be a less powerful system.<\/p>\n<p>On the latest round of price increases, a Microsoft source told Windows Central the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We are navigating an incredibly dynamic environment right now. We\u2019ve assessed the changing macroeconomic environment and addressed the applicable impacts.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s similar verbiage to Sony&#8217;s own statements surrounding console price increases, as it said in August it&#8217;s navigating a &#8220;challenging economic environment&#8221; PlayStation is focusing on GaaS and releasing its games on PC and on the competence. Nintendo has anti-consumer policies and key cards. Xbox has high prices, virtually no support for physical media, and is releasing games on PlayStation. Steam seems to be the lifesaver&#8230; but it sells licenses. GOG doesn\u2019t offer every game.<\/p>\n<p>Every developer seems to have their own agenda and politics, with little innovation.<\/p>\n<p>It may just be me, but I feel like we\u2019re at the end of an era. I hope I\u2019m wrong.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s good that we have things like Clair Obscure and Silksong, but besides that, I\u2019m mainly playing PS4 games and older titles.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe I\u2019m just getting old, and this industry isn\u2019t for me anymore.
