Play\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>Marathon, the upcoming multiplayer shooter from Bungie, will reportedly <em>not<\/em> be showing up at this week&#8217;s State of Play broadcast.<\/p>\n<p>The studio&#8217;s been reluctant to discuss its game for months now, following on from the disastrous revelation that the project had plagiarised a plethora of art assets.<\/p>\n<p>Bungie was forced to carry out a &#8220;thorough review&#8221; of the situation back in May, leading to Marathon being delayed indefinitely a month or so later.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, reports claimed that the developer was in turmoil behind the scenes, and there were even whispers of a potential cancellation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"for-mobile insert insert-label\">\n<div id=\"inject-primis-player\" short, Bungie has really struggled to find any kind of footing with Marathon, and according to a new article from <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/paultassi\/2025\/09\/23\/bungies-marathon-not-at-sonys-new-state-of-play-next-look-months-away\/\">Forbes<\/a>, it clearly isn&#8217;t ready to reintroduce the game.<\/p>\n<p>The studio had previously said that it would be returning at some point this autumn \/ fall to discuss its plans with its audience, but this imminent State of Play doesn&#8217;t seem to be the desired venue.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, Bungie is currently conducting a number of closed alpha tests behind the scenes as it attempts to reshape the project. You may recall that feedback on Marathon&#8217;s earlier alpha test was generally quite negative, so the team will feel as though it&#8217;s got a lot to prove.<\/p>\n<p>Were you hoping to see Marathon this week?
