While we\u2019re at that stage in the cycle now where these rumours won\u2019t go away, we imagine most details are still in a state of flux.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, specs, clock speeds, release dates, and prices could <em>all<\/em> change before launch. Our games right now are good, we just need more of the good stuff running on the already incredible engines from Sony. Reduce budget, increase efficiency and release smaller games quicker that utilize those engines.<\/p>\n<p>Path tracing coming with PS6 is just the icing on the cake. Covid and a slow, long cross-generation period means sales have taken a while to pick up, and household budgets are tight. Costs of chips are worryingly high right now too (but likely to crash down if AI does). Finally Nintendo seemingly waited an extra 6-12 months to build up sizable stock; and it really helped get the ball rolling. I&#8217;m so non plussed about getting a PS6 seeing as I mostly play PS4 games on my PS5 and the console has addressed most of my quality of life improvement needs. I would actually love to just skip the PS6, at least for the first few years. It\u2019s also worth saying that Sony\u2019s considerable market share means that devs probably prioritise optimisations for ps5 when constrained by budget and time.<\/p>\n<p>A more powerful next generation Xbox will be more beneficial to consumers if, as rumoured, it takes the form of a console\/pc hybrid AND allows full graphics settings autonomy as on pc. It was too expensive to justify considering 95% of my time is spent on PC now with a 4090. In case you haven&#8217;t heard, the Nintendo Switch releases of the first three mainline games were canceled because Nintendo of America is seemingly cracking down on games with the kind of content that those games have, if you get what I mean. Almost a year later, I&#8217;m still mad about it. Those three mainline games are getting PS4 releases at the end of this month, so I have the first one on my Christmas list for this year. I&#8217;m also considering getting Fantasy Life i on the PS4 instead of the Switch just to take a jab at Nintendo of America. They canceled game releases I&#8217;m interested in, so they&#8217;ll get a bit less of my money in exchange \ud83d\ude03. Until I find other games I&#8217;m interested in (I will do some research involving that), my PS4 will mostly be a Neptunia machine.<\/p>\n<p>As for the PS5 games that aren&#8217;t on PS4 that I&#8217;m interested in, basically just Astro&#8217;s Playroom, Astro Bot, and Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter (which is also on Switch, so I can just get it there, and it&#8217;s not my highest priority at the moment because of Hyperdimension Neptunia). Not really enough to spend $550 on a PS5 in my opinion, especially since I still want to get a Switch 2 next year.
