absolutely obliterated its rivals in the UK this Black Friday, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamebusiness.com\/p\/ps5-ea-sports-fc-26-and-hogwarts\">selling an outrageous 62% of all console hardware<\/a> during the week ending 30th November.<\/p>\n<p>To put the number into perspective, the newly released Switch 2 \u2013 in its first Black Friday \u2013 made up 23% of the sales, while the Xbox Series X|S occupied 10%, and the original Switch just 5%.<\/p>\n<p>To be fair, Sony\u2019s been marketing the crap out of the PS5 this Christmas, and it plunged prices worldwide to some record lows.<\/p>\n<p>While years of price rises mean the deals haven\u2019t looked all that eye-popping, the average selling price of the system hit \u00a3340, which is actually one of only a handful of times it\u2019s been below \u00a3400 since launching in 2020.<\/p>\n<div class=\"for-mobile\">\n<figure class=\"youtube with-primis\" data-videoid=\"y-XGB8_bQ3s\" class=\"subs\">166k<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>This all helped lift hardware revenue by 14% year-over-year, with PS5 driving a lot of the improvements.<\/p>\n<p>It was a big week in general for PlayStation, with discounts on <strong>PSVR2<\/strong> also handing the headset its biggest sales week of the year \u2013 although that\u2019s not particularly surprising given its price.<\/p>\n<p>Sony will have expected to see similar momentum across the world, as it works to hit 100 million units ahead of the release of GTA 6 next year. Considering its current install base sits at 84.2 million, we reckon it\u2019ll reach that milestone easily before 19th November.<\/p>\n<p><!-- cache:
