Atsu is a main character utterly consumed by contempt for the villains that wronged her young self, and for most of the game, helping her carry out her long-awaited vengeance is horribly satisfying.<\/p>\n<div class=\"insert-label centered insert lazyload for-mobile insert-extended lazyload\">\n<div id=\"PS_MPU_X_V69534AD031EE9\" style=\"min-width:300px; min-height:250px;display:flex; flex-wrap: wrap; align-items:center; justify-content: center;\" data-dfp-id=\"pushsquare\/mobile_web_display\/article\" data-dfp-sizes=\"300x250,300x600\" data-dfp-targeting=\"pos=1,gto=false,experiment=nl-article-mobile-1\" class=\"lazyload\" data-dfp-refresh-direct=\"true\" data-prebid-config=\"Lazy_Load_HP_MPU\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>But as was the case with Tsushima, it&#8217;s not all about spilling blood. Variety really is the spice of life this time around, as Atsu can partake in unique bounty hunting quests, train under various weapon masters, track down local legends, bare her bum in a hot spring, and even click with a surprisingly addictive coin-based minigame.<\/p>\n<p>Again, it&#8217;s the fluidity of the overall experience that we think sets Yotei apart; you&#8217;re not just following the wind from one objective marker to the next \u2014 you&#8217;re spying landmarks in the distance and being led elsewhere along the way. The sense of exploration is joyous at times.<\/p>\n<p>Yotei isn&#8217;t a revolutionary sequel, but we don&#8217;t think it needs to be. Sucker Punch crafted something special with Tsushima, and it was wise to keep that core intact for the follow-up, while also directly addressing broader points of criticism, like repetitive activities and an eventual lack of combat depth.<\/p>\n<div class=\"insert-label centered insert lazyload for-mobile lazyload\">\n<div id=\"PS_MPU_X_Q69534AD031F2A\" style=\"min-width:300px; min-height:250px;display:flex; flex-wrap: wrap; align-items:center; justify-content: center;\" data-dfp-id=\"pushsquare\/mobile_web_display\/article\" data-dfp-sizes=\"300x250\" data-dfp-targeting=\"pos=1,gto=false,experiment=nl-article-mobile-2\" class=\"lazyload\" data-dfp-refresh-direct=\"true\" data-prebid-config=\"Lazy_Load_HP_MPU\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Speaking of which, Yotei&#8217;s blood-soaked battles deserve a special mention \u2014 especially the boss fights. There are some outstanding duels both in and out of the main story; deadlier combat leads to a notable increase in tension, and so when those parries hit just right, this is some of the most gripping action you&#8217;ll find on PS5.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s another cracker from PlayStation Studios, then \u2014 and it&#8217;s only going to get better. Yotei&#8217;s Legends mode is due out next year, and we&#8217;re sure Sucker Punch has more to add beyond that. I get that the game was popular, Atsu\u2019s a great character, and the gameplay is fantastic. That said, the story just wasn\u2019t up to the Sony first party standard and it harbored a \u201cbeen there, done that\u201d feel that I couldn\u2019t shake, even when I was enjoying the game. It\u2019s a weird game because it just had so much potential to be more than what it is. However, a week or two after completing it, I started to realize something: I might be getting burned out on the Sony formula for first party games. on #1 because its had a few replies now.<\/p>\n<p>The other list might have &#8216;just&#8217; been about the open world but isn&#8217;t the open world aspect of an open world game pretty huge? It is to me anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Half your time spent in an open world game will be traversing it, so is it fun to traverse (Just Cause)? Is it a challenge to traverse (Death Stranding)? Maybe the open world is a sand box full of distractions (Yakuza)? Or is the open world simply a pretty backdrop to look at while I press the &#8216;horse&#8217; button and push the left stick forward until I get to my destination just to be greeted with a bamboo mini game that increments my stats?<\/p>\n<p>Could call it just my preference, but telling me game x is a better open world game than game y and then telling me game y is better despite this?
