Today, it&#8217;s the turn of editor <strong>Sammy Barker<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_Wuthering_Waves\"><\/span><strong>5. Wuthering Waves<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"picture\" data-uuid=\"7641d647e1712\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"scanlines\" title=\"Wuthering Waves\" href=\"https:\/\/images.pushsquare.com\/7641d647e1712\/wuthering-waves.large.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/images.pushsquare.com\/7641d647e1712\/wuthering-waves.900x.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"507\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Wuthering Waves\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>Did I really <em>need<\/em> another gacha game in my life? The answer is, of course, no. I dabbled with Wuthering Waves when it debuted on mobile, but I only properly got into it with its PS5 release in January. And I think you can tell dev Kuro has analysed everything that\u2019s great in Genshin Impact, and re-presented it as part of a polished package.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll be honest, I haven\u2019t put the hours into this outing that I\u2019d like to have over the course of the year, simply because I can only juggle so much and I do still have to play other, non-live service games. Needy Streamer Overload<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"picture\" data-uuid=\"84163133a8760\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"scanlines\" title=\"Needy Streamer Overload\" href=\"https:\/\/images.pushsquare.com\/84163133a8760\/needy-streamer-overload.large.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/images.pushsquare.com\/84163133a8760\/needy-streamer-overload.900x.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Needy Streamer Overload\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>I first heard about Needy Streamer Overload \u2013 originally titled Needy Girl Overdose \u2013 when it was ported to the Switch in 2022. This denpa management sim immediately caught my attention with its kitsch presentation and simulation elements, but I quickly learned it\u2019s a lot glibber than its Windows 95-inspired aesthetic originally led me to believe.<\/p>\n<p>This visual novel goes to some dark places, tackling challenging subject matter, such as mental illness, parasocial relationships, and more. Its lead character \u2013 the complicated Ame-chan, who masquerades online as OMGkawaiiAngel \u2013 has since started to pop up everywhere around Asia and Japan, with the series spawning several manga adaptations and even an upcoming anime.<\/p>\n<p>If you like visual novels, tycoon titles, or even just something a little different, I highly recommend giving this game a go.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Silent_Hill_F\"><\/span><strong>3. Silent Hill F<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"picture\" data-uuid=\"fea3f8fe814c6\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"scanlines\" title=\"Silent Hill F\" href=\"https:\/\/images.pushsquare.com\/fea3f8fe814c6\/silent-hill-f.large.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/images.pushsquare.com\/fea3f8fe814c6\/silent-hill-f.900x.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Silent Hill F\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<div class=\"insert-label centered insert lazyload for-mobile insert-extended lazyload\">\n<div id=\"PS_MPU_X_U695779965366D\" style=\"min-width:300px; min-height:250px;display:flex; flex-wrap: wrap; align-items:center; justify-content: center;\" data-dfp-id=\"pushsquare\/mobile_web_display\/article\" data-dfp-sizes=\"300x250,300x600\" data-dfp-targeting=\"pos=1,gto=false,experiment=nl-article-mobile-2\" class=\"lazyload\" data-dfp-refresh-direct=\"true\" data-prebid-config=\"Lazy_Load_HP_MPU\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>I was always going to love Silent Hill F for its 1960s aesthetic, but the game overall exceeded my expectations \u2013 even though I agree there\u2019s lots to criticise about aspects of its structure and gameplay.<\/p>\n<p>For me, the character of Hinako and the fictional town of Ebisugaoka pulled me in immediately, with sensational art and surprisingly relatable themes, including \u2013 but absolutely not limited to \u2013 bullying, patriarchy, and the role of women in a society that\u2019s purposefully designed to put them down.<\/p>\n<p>Silent Hill has always been good at blending psychological horror with the terrors of real-life, and I think this effort \u2013 written by the well-regarded Ryukishi07 \u2013 really gets that. It also goes places I personally didn\u2019t expect, drawing me in more and more with its twists and deeply engaging lore.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Dispatch\"><\/span><strong>2. Dispatch<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"picture\" data-uuid=\"cb615e76f9394\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"scanlines\" title=\"Dispatch\" href=\"https:\/\/images.pushsquare.com\/cb615e76f9394\/dispatch.large.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/images.pushsquare.com\/cb615e76f9394\/dispatch.900x.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Dispatch\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<div class=\"insert-label centered insert lazyload for-mobile lazyload\">\n<div id=\"PS_MPU_X_Z6957799653696\" style=\"min-width:300px; min-height:250px;display:flex; flex-wrap: wrap; align-items:center; justify-content: center;\" data-dfp-id=\"pushsquare\/mobile_web_display\/article\" data-dfp-sizes=\"300x250\" data-dfp-targeting=\"pos=1,gto=false,experiment=nl-article-mobile-3\" class=\"lazyload\" data-dfp-refresh-direct=\"true\" data-prebid-config=\"Lazy_Load_HP_MPU\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The idea of a superhero management sim appealed to me the moment Dispatch was first revealed, but the final product absolutely shattered my expectations. I was immediately captivated by the quality of the animation and the Western anime-esque art style, which absolutely sings during an early scene where protagonist Robert and the Blonde Blazer fly over a sparkling city scene.<\/p>\n<p>I always enjoyed Telltale\u2019s efforts conceptually, but they felt hamstrung by their budgets and lack of engaging gameplay. I actually think running the SDN is extremely entertaining here, as the game is constantly changing the rules and applying just enough pressure to push you into making difficult decisions.<\/p>\n<p>But the great character designs, outstanding voice acting, and sensational score pushed this to an entirely different tier for me. There\u2019s such an abundance of games to play these days that it\u2019s rare I finish a release immediately wanting more, but with Dispatch I\u2019m already itching for a second season.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_Clair_Obscur_Expedition_33\"><\/span><strong>1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"picture\" data-uuid=\"134a268d47c41\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"scanlines\" title=\"Clair Obscur Expedition 33\" href=\"https:\/\/images.pushsquare.com\/134a268d47c41\/clair-obscur-expedition-33.large.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/images.pushsquare.com\/134a268d47c41\/clair-obscur-expedition-33.900x.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Clair Obscur Expedition 33\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>I wish I could be contrary and pick a different game for my number one, but Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the most impressive thing I played in 2025 \u2013 heck, it may be one of the more remarkable titles I\u2019ve played in years. I know it\u2019s annoying to hear that time and time again, but it really is <em>that<\/em> good.<\/p>\n<p>Truth be told, I was sold on this game within its first hour or so: the sweeping, sensational score; the fractured Parisian backdrop; the emotive voice acting; the costume designs \u2013 I fell in love with it all.<\/p>\n<p>But even taking all of those aspects out of it, as a pure JRPG, I think it\u2019s outstanding. It\u2019s brief enough to never waste your time, and yet it manages to condense that sense of growth and mastery so essential to the genre within its comparatively slight running time.<\/p>\n<p>I love the way the game empowers you to break it in your own personal way, all the while forcing you to fall in love with its cast and wider world. It\u2019s a tremendous effort, and one of the standouts of the PS5 generation for sure.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>What do you think of Sammy&#8217;s personal Game of the Year picks?
