But TikTok has <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.tiktok.com\/tiktoks-new-for-you-calendar-helps-families-connect-and-build-positive-digital-habits?lang=en\" style=\"color:#0563c1\">launched a new calendar template<\/a> that\u2019s designed to help children and families better coordinate and manage their weekly online and offline activities.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"TikTok For Your Calendar\" data-imagemodel=\"191798\" src=\"https:\/\/imgproxy.divecdn.com\/KPQEmeQyxCmNAeFUc1V0L9pQn1K8-qHpTe6vE27rbqY\/g:ce\/rs:fit:1600:0\/Z3M6Ly9kaXZlc2l0ZS1zdG9yYWdlL2RpdmVpbWFnZS90aWt0b2tfZm9yX3lvdV9jYWxlbmRhci5wbmc=.webp\"\/><\/div>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span>As you can see in this example, TikTok\u2019s new \u201cFor You Calendar\u201d aims to help families coordinate their lives, and include time for family connection, all in one simple template. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span>As explained by <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.tiktok.com\/tiktoks-new-for-you-calendar-helps-families-connect-and-build-positive-digital-habits?lang=en\" style=\"color:#0563c1\">TikTok<\/a>:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><em><span><span>\u201c<\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span><span><span><span>This physical weekly planner is a space designed for families to connect each week to plan, reflect, and have open conversations about how they spend their time both online and offline &#8211; from activities to time \u2018for you.\u2019 It gives parents and teens a simple way to talk about building balanced digital habits, whatever that looks like for them, alongside the plans they&#8217;re already making.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>So, conceptually at least, it\u2019s supposed to have something to do with balancing time online and offline, though what actual impact it has will be relative to the user.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>The calendar was designed by TikTok creator <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@lindatongplanners?lang=en\" style=\"color:#0563c1\">Linda Tong<\/a>, who hand-illustrates stationery \u201cthat makes organization both fun and accessible.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Yeah, I don\u2019t know. Conceptually, TikTok\u2019s trying to associate its brand with better work\/life balance, and awareness of time spent online. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>But in reality, is anybody actually going to use this as intended, and will that have any impact on online interaction?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Online worlds are where teens spend the majority of their time these days, with kids being far more likely to connect on Snapchat than they are to meet up on their bikes.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Which is kind of where proposals like this fail, that just because people might yearn for the old days, where kids would climb trees and make cubby houses, that doesn\u2019t mean that they can bring them back, by force, by simply cutting down screen time or mapping out a more specific online\/offline approach. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Of course, it\u2019s good for parents to maintain an awareness of their kids\u2019 screen time, and to manage such within reason.
